Mr. Andrew Meiser, a native of Juniata County, began his career at JMS as a teacher, and has served as Principal of the school for the past eleven years. Mr. Meiser received a Bachelor’s degree in Bible, with an emphasis of counseling, from Philadelphia College of Bible to complete his Master’s Degree in education from the same institution. Mr. Meiser is currently in the final stages of doctoral work in Education Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Prior to his work at the school, he served as an inner-city missionary in Philadelphia. Mr. Meiser has been married to the former Mary Anderson for 17 years. They have two children, Scott and Valarie, who are in eighth and fifth grade at JMS. The Meisers reside in Mifflin and attend Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church.
Mrs. Linda Letner is a graduate of Messiah College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She is married to Ken Letner, Bishop of the Brethren in Christ Susquehanna Conference, and a mother of three sons, two of which attended Juniata Mennonite School during the 1990's. Mrs. Letner has been employed at JMS since 1992 as a part-time and full time teacher. She is currently the Assistant Principal, responsible for the supervision for Kindergarten through fifth grade teachers and programs, for planning and carrying out chapels, special needs students’ instruction, and the responsibilities of the School Counselor
Mrs. Stephanie Graybill is a graduate of Central Pennsylvania College with an Associate in Legal Assisting. She is married and has two sons; Dylan, a first grader at JMS, and Devin, a two-year-old. Her Family resides in Richfield. Stephanie worked as a Medical Malpractice defense paralegal for 10 years until she began working at JMS as the Administrative Assistant in January of 2007. When not working at JMS, Stephanie enjoys spending all her time with her boys. She is also very involved in her church as the VBS coordinator and teacher as well as the children’s junior church coordinator and teacher.
Mrs. Gladys Gingrich has been connected with JMS for a long time. She and her husband Dale both attended Delaware Mennonite School (now JMS) at the East Salem location for ten years. They sent their two children to JMS. In 1993, she accepted a position as secretary at JMS working five days a week. She is currently working two days a week.
Ms. Tandy Bottalli began working as a part-time secretary at JMS in December of 2006, in addition to already being a study hall monitor, elementary aide, and bus driver. For many years Mrs. Botalli worked with her mother at Meadows Lane, a craft store in McAlisterville. Tandi still uses her creativity to design craft projects for her home and friends. Mrs. Botalli’s pride and joy is her son, Zachary, who is in third grade as JMS.
Mrs. Dawn Brubaker works as a part-time secretary on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. She attended Delaware Mennonite School for four years then graduated from East Juniata High School. She and her husband, Conrad, have four Children (Austin, Julia, Lynnae and Hunter) who are students at JMS. Dawn is actively involved in the family dairy and chicken farm. She and her family attend Cross Roads Mennonite Church in Richfield.
Mrs. Phyllis Gingrich is a graduate of Eastern Mennonite College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Before becoming a stay at home mother while her children were young, she taught first grade in the public school system for one and a half years. Thirteen years later, following the death of her first husband in a farm accident, she began teaching kindergarten at JMS. This is her twenty-third year at the school. When she is not busy with school or with church activities, she and her second husband, Dave, enjoy spending time with their four adult children, their spouses and their ten grandchildren.
Mrs. Amber Moyer is a second grade teacher here at JMS. This is her third year. She attended Messiah College and graduated from Bloomsburg University. The last few years she has been substitute teaching, which included some long term assignments in the Selinsgrove area. She and her husband have two young daughters and live in Richfield. They attend Richfield Mennonite Church.
Mrs. Mary Jo Barner has been teaching first grade for five years at JMS. She has earned her Bachelor of Science in Christian Education from Freedom Bible College. She has been teaching in a Christian School setting for seven years. She and her husband Keith have been married for twenty-two years. They have three children attending JMS.
Mrs. Judith Rudy is currently teaching fourth grade at JMS. She received a B.S. in Bible and a B.S. in Elementary Education from Lancaster Bible College in 1995. She has previously taught fifth and sixth grades at another Christian school in Maryland, and was also the director of a daycare center for 7 years before joining the JMS staff in 2006.
Mrs. Tammy Goodling is teaching second grade this year. She graduated from Messiah College and currently lives in Mifflintown. She is married to Scot Goodling, and they have three boys: a tenth grader, a seventh grader, and a third grader. They attend Cedar Grove Christ Church. Mrs. Goodling enjoys walking her family’s two Labrador retrievers, jogging, and watching the boys’ soccer games.
Mrs. Paula Diven is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She is married with two adult daughters who currently live in the southern region of the United States. She enjoys taking trips to historical sites with her husband, Harry, and visiting her grandchildren, Molly, Tucker, and Meghan. She also enjoys sewing, knitting, and other related crafts when time permits. In her off time, you may find her watching old movies or reading, but during the summer she likes to take courses which keep her up to date in the latest teaching methods. She has been teaching third grade at JMS for ten years and delights in finding new ways to teach in a hands on atmosphere.
Mrs. Katie S. Stauffer teaches fourth grade. This is her fifth year at JMS. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Lock Haven University, and she is currently earning her masters degree as a student through Wilkes University. She student taught at both Montgomery Elementary School and Warrior Run Middle School, which broadened her experience from Kindergarten to sixth grade. She is excited to be here at JMS. Katie is currently on sabbatical from JMS.
Mr. Jason Winey is a JMS alumnus and a graduate of Juniata High School. He is currently teaching fifth grade and is the boys’ varsity soccer coach. He graduated from Beaver College, now called Arcadia University. He worked for two years as a teacher's aid in the Upper Dublin School District. This is his fifth year teaching at JMS. He enjoys tennis, soccer, and reading. Mr. Winey attends Thompsontown Baptist Church.
Mrs. Kasi Coder is an elementary teacher's aide.
Mrs. Marcella Burkholder is a second grade teacher’s aide with additional recess and lunch duties. She and her husband Marlin have four children at JMS; they have been at the school 12 years. Marcella and her family live near Richfield and attend Lauvers Mennonite Church.
Miss Ashley Anderson began teaching part time at Juniata Mennonite School in the fall of 2006. Right now she teaches 7th Bible, social studies, 8-11 Bible, Public Speaking, and Bible Practicum. Miss Anderson was born on April 14, 1982. She attended Juniata High School and completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern University. She is a member of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church in Mifflintown where she works part-time as the church’s Local Missionary to Youth. Miss Anderson enjoys reading (particularly science fiction and classics), traveling, and camping/hiking. She is currently interested in Ecclesiology, the Lord of the Rings, and squirrels.
Mr. Rory Daulton graduated from Cornell University in 1977, Magna Cum Laude in Mathematics and with Distinction in all subjects. He also did two years of study toward a Master if Divinity degree at Nairobi International School of theology. Mr. Daulton was a missionary in East Africa for 26 years with Campus Crusade for Christ. For seven years of that time he taught mathematics, physics, and Christian religious education at two African secondary schools. After retirement from missions he taught at Mifflin County Christian Academy for one year. This is his third year at JMS where he teaches Calculus and seventh through twelfth grade science. Rory is married to Kee Daulton, with two young adult children, Patrick and Kelly. Rory is originally from Columbus, Ohio, while Kee is a native of Lewistown.
Mr. Ivan Deim serves as part-time maintenance man at JMS this year. He and his wife live outside McAlisterville. His two sons and three daughters are all married, giving him nineteen grandchildren. They were patrons of Delaware Mennonite Church from 1972 through 1981. They are now members of Crossroads Mennonite Church in Richfield. He has four grandchildren attending JMS. He accepted Jesus as his Lord when he was thirteen.
Mrs. Carole Detwiler is in her seventh year at JMS. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lebanon Valley College and then her Elementary Certification from Alvernia College in 1997. She holds a Masters of Divinity in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved into this area in March 2000 from the Reading, Pennsylvania area. There she substitute taught in the public school systems as well as at Hinkletown Mennonite School. She has also taught writing and advanced reading and tutored computers at Reading Area Community College. She is married and has three children. She is currently teaching fifth through twelfth grade Computer and computer electives, six grade Science, and Kindergarten through twelfth grade Art.
Mrs. Brenda Esterline is involved at JMS in the home economic middle school enrichment classes and the senior high elective courses. She also serves as the instructor for the JMS Puppet Team that travels throughout the area sharing the salvation message of Jesus Christ. Brenda lives in Evendale with her husband, Dave, and daughters, Amy (a JMS student) and Olivia (soon to be a JMS student) as well as a menagerie of animals. A Sunday School teacher and member of the Richfield Mennonite Church, Brenda is a graduate of East Juniata High School and professionally trained in the art of clowning.
Mrs. LuAnne King has been teaching at JMS for 20 years. She currently teaches sixth grade reading, English and spelling, seventh grade English and literature, K-5th music and 4th/5th chorus. She has a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Susquehanna University and received her Elementary Education certification from West Chester University. She is an active member of Brown's United Methodist Church where she is the director of the handbell choir, assistant choir director, and assists with children’s ministries. She is married to James King and has two sons, Caleb and Jordan; both attend JMS. She and her husband serve on the JMS sale committee. She enjoys reading, playing the piano, and camping.
Mrs. PeggyAnne Meckley is presently serving as the JMS Physical Education teacher and Athletic Coordinator. She has been involved part-time with JMS since 1990. She earned her teaching certification from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and in Recreation and Parks. For seven years she was a substitute teacher for the Midd-West School District and for JMS. PeggyAnne is married to David Meckley, Pastor of Christ Church of Beaver Springs. Their four children are proud JMS alumni. PeggyAnne has a love for the Lord, the Christian community, good hard workouts, and adventure sports.
Mrs. Tamara Metz is currently teaching high school business math. This is her fifth year of employment at JMS. She earned an Associate of Science Degree in Medical Secretary. After working as a medical secretary for two years, she returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education at Shippensburg University. She and her husband, Tom, have three children (Sarah, Caleb, and Jacob) who are students at JMS. Her family attends First Baptist Church in Mifflintown.
Mr. James Rosner graduated from Mansfield University with a Bachelor in Music Education degree. He taught for four years in the public school system, teaching fourth through sixth grade instrumental music and seventh through twelfth grade general/vocal music in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. He taught for ten years at Mifflin County Christian Academy where he taught fifth through tenth academic and Bible classes and pre-school through twelfth grade vocal music and private instrumental lessons. He was the pre-school/day care director, fine arts director, and junior/senior high disciplinarian for MCCA.. He currently lives in the Lewistown area. He has been married for seventeen "wonderful" years and has two daughters.
Mr. Harold Saner is teaching technical education at JMS for the third year. He is a Millersville University graduate with a BS in Industrial Arts Education. He has taught Industrial Arts at Lancaster Mennonite School for three years and at Newport High School for thirty-seven years. He is married and has three adult daughters and five grandchildren. He and his wife Donna are involved with church activities at Delaware Mennonite. He enjoys hunting, woodworking, and family activities
Mrs. Debbie Schmoyer is a graduate of Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Since 1979 she has taught elementary and Learning Support classes in both Christian and public schools. Mrs. Schmoyer came to JMS in 2003. Presently she is serving as an Education Therapist certified by the National Institute for Learning Development. She and her husband, Randy, are actively involved in the Bible Baptist Church in Liverpool. Their two children, Tiffany and Bradley, are both graduates of Cedarville University.
Mr. Terry Smith teaches in the Middle School and High School. He is a graduate from Penn State with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Studies. He holds a Masters of Education in Educational Administration from Penn State and a Masters of Divinity from Bethany Theological Seminary. This is his fifth year at JMS. He has an expanded role in the High School this year. He had taught at East Juniata for the previous 32 years. He is the pastor at the Free Spring Church of the Brethren. He and his wife Wanda have three children -- all Penn State graduates.
Miss Staci Taylor is a 1999 graduate of Messiah College with a Bachelor of Arts in History with Social Studies Certification for grades seventh through twelfth. She worked as a volunteer teacher on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota from 1999 until 2002 when she started working at JMS. She is currently teaching Middle and High School American History I and II, Church History, civics, economics/sociology, and trigonometry.
Mrs. Margaret Varner graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in 1971 and taught three years under the Mennonite Central Committee Teacher's Abroad Program in Botswana. She received her Masters of Arts in Education from Bloomsburg in 1977. Her family includes her husband Tim and her children: Josh, Jen, Joe, and Jeff (a twelfth grader at JMS). She loves reading, writing, walking, and quilts. She collects ABC books, stories with quilts in them, and postcards. She is currently teaching middle and high school Literature and Social Studies.
Mrs. Doris Watts has been involved with JMS since 1991. She is currently in her eleventh year teaching private piano lessons at JMS. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and a teaching certificate from Philadelphia Biblical University. Her family includes her husband Edward and four children: Faith, Jerry, Hope, and Jesse (three of whom attended JMS). In her spare time, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and embroidery.
Mrs. Sue Winey is our Librarian this year. She has a BS in Elementary Education and a minor in Library Science. She has been at JMS for 21 years.
Mrs. Tricia Koch is employed by the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit as a Reading Specialist and Enrichment teacher. She has been working with JMS since November 1998. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lock Haven University and her Masters of Education in Reading from Bloomsburg University. She is married and has a daughter. She loves spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys watching her husband race go-carts.
Mrs. Lyn Bratton is employed by Tuscarora Intermediate Unit and has been at JMS since 2005. She works as the Resource Center aid on Wednesdays and Thursdays. She lives in McVeytown with her husband and son.
Adrienne Johnson is employed by the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit as our Speech-Language Pathologist on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
